The author attempts to construct a theoretical compromise between the Pro-Choice and Pro-Life positions on the abortion question. 

To find a way out of the deadlock, he contrives a scenario for satisfying the principal demands of each side, while requiring each side yield something in the settlement.

The theoretical model presented does not purport to be practicable, politically or technically. It is a philosophical exercise aimed at dispelling the notion that the goals of each side are hopelessly at odds.
